Golf irons

Golf irons are used to strike a golf ball from medium-range distances. A driver is used to hit the ball off the tee and a putter is used to hit the ball on the green. However, in the fairway, golf irons are the club of choice.

Golf irons are assigned numbers based on the angle of the club wedge. The higher the number the more pronounced the angle. For example, a nine iron has the most pronounced wedge angle.

Golf irons are typically sold in sets. However, a single iron can also be purchased. Consumers purchasing irons should tell the salesman whether they are right-handed or left-handed since clubs are designed to fit the dominant hand.
